The Labor Day Weekend and Dragon*Con promotions at the and RPGNow stores went very well this fall and I look forward to running more promotions like it in the future. The next planned promotion will be a discount on select products next weekend to celebrate "Talk Like a Pirate" Day.

I have some news on the Upcoming page on some delays for a few products. Future electronic City Streets releases will NOT include the Sparks Introduction (the generic system used for the City Streets line) and the Sparks Introduction will be offered individually as a free download. Any planned print or Print-On-Demand (POD) releases will still include the introduction but reviews and comments indicate that it is easy enough for customers to download the introduction as a free product that it is not required for electronic releases.

GU is celebrating Labor Day Weekend (US) and Dragon*Con with a 20% discount on all of our products sold at the and RPGNow (and all OBS) stores. It is a great time to pick up any of the City Streets releases that you might have missed.

August 20, 2009

Updates to the website are slowly coming through. Links in the upper left now lead to the and RPGNow stores (respectively). All of our City Streets releases are now available at

The "Upcoming" webpage is also being loaded. We don't have full information up yet but it is in being worked on.

GenCon Blahs

Well, GU didn't get to go to GenCon this year so time has been spent getting new products ready. Today we released Agouri's Scriptorium, a simple City Streets location designed to provide PCs with someone that can translate ancient texts and maps leading them into untold dangers. GU has also spent time to get our products released through the Paizo online store for those of you that shop at Paizo, please take a look at our offerings.

Don't forget to check our CityCorner page for more information on all of our City Streets offerings.

While the website has not been updated often enough, this is partly due to some background changes being made to the site, as well as some planned changes that simply aren't ready to be implemented. It looks like GU might have some help over the weekend (yes, other poor folks that didn't make it to GenCon this year) so some of the changes might be fully implemented soon. The latest information can usually be found on the blog or you can always email with questions.

Christmas in July!

RPGNow and all related OBS sites start their Christmas in July promotion at Midnight tonight! To help celebrate, GU has created a special compilation of all of our previously released taverns in a single volume. We added The Gorgon's Breath, a short 2 1/2 page tavern, to the mix. If you are a loyal customer that owns all, or even just some, of our previously released tavern locations please email us and we'll make certain you receive a copy of the full compilation with The Gorgon's Breath for free.

Summer Tavern Special I

Welcome to Christmas in July! To help celebrate Generic Universe Publishing is offering this special compilation of City Streets tavern offerings during the first part of 2009. In addition to the following taverns, this compilation includes a tiny dive known as The Gorgon’s Breath. Available now through the future, your best discount on this low-priced collection is during Christmas in July!

Follow these links for more information on the following  included taverns:
The Black Ape
Brandy’s by the Bay
The Green Dragon
The Mug and Bottle
The White Tankard

More news about upcoming releases is coming soon!

July 16, 2009

Well, The Mug and Bottle is ready and will be available after Midnight tonight. Here is a bit more information:

The Mug and Bottle
Whatever vice your PCs, or the criminals they seek, might have, The Mug and Bottle is happy to serve their dark desires.

Zeon the Bold serves drugs, booze and women in the run down warehouse he converted into a tavern and brothel designed specifically to serve the basest vices of the sailors, dockworkers, and anyone else willing to enter The Mug and Bottle. Home to addicts and drunks, Zeon makes no secret that he will help satisfy any vice, if he doesn’t have what you need, he certainly knows someone that does, for a price.

GM Note: This product describes several new drugs in generic terms for your game use. It does contain themes of drug use, addiction, and prostitution that might not be appropriate for your game, but these themes can easily be altered.

July 10, 2009

Well, we are missing the goal of a release today. Sorry, a medical procedure and some scanning issues got in the way. On July 12th (Sunday) we'll have a product list for the rest of the month up as well as some covers and maybe even some new artwork. GU will be offline for the next 2 days. All emails will be answered on Sunday.

June 25, 2009

I have made a note that May and June are going to be slow or no release months in the future. Things are simply so busy at this time that I don't get sufficiently large chunks of time to finish projects off. I will be on vacation from June 26th through July 4th.

The next release is "The Mug and Bottle" (a City Streets product) and should be out on or shortly before July 10th.

May 27, 2009

The Memorial Day promotion ended Monday night at midnight. Unfortunately, I didn't get to promote this as much as I wanted. Special thanks to the loyal customers that donated on their own, and a hearty thank you to the customers that did stop by and purchase something. A check for $111.95 has been made out to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund and will be sent out in tomorrow's mail. This is a wonderful charity so I strongly encourage you to support them if you have the means.

Other News: Things have been rather insanely busy here lately so our product releases have slowed down significantly. A 4th edition DnD rules editor and writer have been lined up for some planned 4e GSL releases and work is progessing on several other fronts. Right now 3 books are waiting for artwork and layout and several others are at or near the same stage.

May 11, 2009

Well folks, the Mother's Day Sale just ended so prices are back to normal. The next GU promotion is going to be over the Memorial Day weekend. GU will donate the Gross sales from the entire weekend to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. What's more, is GU will match that donation out of our own pocket (up to $100). You'll hear more from us over the next few weeks.

We hope to announce a new product line (or two) during the next week. Please check back for more information.

Older news from the front page has been moved to the Old News page. The "News" page is still reserved for longer standing news items from the front page.

February 18, 2009

Okay, I didn't actually upload the changes I made a few days ago so I guess they are going up now. First, two new GreatCreators releases have gone up, unfortunately, our calendar was off so we uploaded during some server upgrades. Not all of the images are up right now but the files appeared to upload just fine. You'll find two Jules Verne classics, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Journey to the Center of the Earth.

Watch this page for more news on some upcoming GM's Day specials during the week of March 2nd.

February 15, 2009

Happy Valentine's Day (a little late). The Green Dragon has been released and is available for download. We were (almost) on track to have some early releases as a Valentine's Day gift for some of our best customers but that is probably going to have to wait until GM's Day on March 4th. Look for new City Streets locations every other week as well as some upcoming compilations of our previous releases.

Watch the City Corner for more information on upcoming City Streets releases.

January 27, 2009

Back from vacation! Check the City Corner for upcoming City Streets releases. The next release is The White Tankard available this Thursday (January 29th) followed by The Green Dragon which is available for download on February 12th.

While you wait, why don't you look at the latest review (4/5) of Kagen's Books and Knowledge by OBS staff reviewer Peter Ingham. You can find it right here.

January 15, 2009

VACATION: GU (Patrick Lawinger) is on vacation and "internet free" from January 16th through January 25th. GU will be back with more updates and new releases the week of January 26th.

NOTE: my internet connection went out several times while uploading products. Some products may appear without any information. I will be trying to solve this problem before departing. Thanks, P.

January 14, 2009

Earlier today Around the World in 80 Days (by Jules Verne) was released (Okay, it was supposed to be released earlier, I blame computer problems--honest) and at midnight tonight The Lord's Kennel is going to be available. This book was written and illustrated by Jason Ludwig, the same author/artists that gave you The Black Ape.

January 7, 2009

Two new City Streets releases go "live" at midnight tonight. The Black Ape is a dockside tavern serving sailors and travelers of all types. Its exotic cuisine and interesting reputation are certain to attract an adventurer's attention. Kagen's Books and Knowledge provides a place for PCs to do some research, or hire someone to do it for them.

Look for more information on the Products page or in the new "City Corner."

City Streets

January 6, 2009

Okay, we still haven't updated the Submissions and Open Call pages yet. They really are in progress. Meanwhile, don't forget to check out Gior's Glassworks and The Lost World. If it adds to your patience, how about a little drawing of "Black Orchid" a deadly young lady slated for a "book-to-be-named" (hey, can we trademark that?).

January 4th, 2009

We have finally "opened our doors" with new releases available at RPGNow, DriveThruRPG, and related One Book Shelf sites. Our first release in the City Streets product line is Gior's Glassworks which is available for FREE! Our first release in the GreatCreators product line is The Lost World by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle which is available at the low, low price of $1.99.

The website is going through a complete reconstruction right now. The previous site was created with older software that didn't properly recognize a number of new links. Please be patient as the Submissions page and Open Call pages will be updated as soon as possible.
